In this article we will talk about how we prepared for the trip.
Let’s begin.
The Preparation
We started our preparation from the Passport:
Passport
Each and every people in the world needs a Passport for cross-border transportation. We applied and collected our passport from our local passport office.
Visa
We applied for Indian Visa in our nearest IVAC (Indian Visa Application Center).
Within short time we got our Indian Visa with 6 months validity.
Air Ticket
After received our Visa, we started planning about journey date.
Once we finalized our date, we started looking for available Air Tickets.
This time we took assistance from a travel agency.
After a search, Travel Agency confirms our ticket from Dhaka to Srinagar in Air India.
In this case we had to take a break in Delhi.
Meaning, we needed to catch a connecting flight.
We confirmed our return ticket also.
We would stay in Kashmir 5 Days and 4 Nights.
Hotel Booking
You need to be very careful about choosing hotel.
In our case, we needed to choose hotel in two different locations.
One was in Delhi during the transit period.
Final hotel in Srinagar.
To choose hotel in Delhi, we used a simple trick.
We used booking.com to find a affordable nearby hotel in Delhi Airort.
We booked Hotel Classic Plaza.
This hotel is about 4-5 kilometer away from our Delhi Airport Terminal.
This distance is very easy for transport and time.
If we did not booked the Hotel in Delhi in booking.com, we may had been charged higher than we actually paid.
Another benefit I found using booking.com is if you don’t want to stay in hotel that you booked in the booking.com. It’s ok. There is no charge of cancellation.
You can stay any hotel you like.
We also used booking.com for our Srinagar Hotel Booking.
This time, when we reached in hotel that we already booked.
We did not like the hotel while seeing physically.
So, we searched for another hotel in Srinagar by physical visit and booked it for next 4 nights.
The booking.com has free of charge to book hotels.
You can do the same thing. But at least try to there with a confirmed hotel booking.
Because it will be safe for you.
Local Transport
We had no plan yet about what and how we use local transport, but we would find it whenever we reached at Srinagar Airport.
Medicine
We took necessary medicines that were possibly needed for us.
Weather & Climate Update in Kashmir
The time we were travelling in January 2024.
During the time Kashmir supposed to have heavy snowfall and extreme code condition.
But this year 2024 was an exception.
The weather condition was not that heavy or extreme.
There was no heavy snowfall that should had.
We continuously checking Google weather updates, YouTube’s recent vlogs to understand the weather and climate conditions there.
Clothing
While observing whether and climate in Kashmir, we prepared for the necessary cloths.
Since heavy snowfall could happen anytime in Kashmir.
We took warm cloths.
Though there were no heavy snowfall, but there was a severe drop in weather condition.
As per Google Weather report, weather drops to 2-3 degree in the evening and drops to negative at night.
So, warm clothing were highly necessary to fight that cold situation.
